What is the Maxim Summer Internship?

The Maxim Summer Internship is a 12-week programme for university students and recent graduates with an interest in Policy, Politics and Communications.

The programme comprises a combination of morning classes with experts in history, philosophy, law, politics and media; afternoons reading primary texts by some of the world’s greatest thinkers; and evenings hosting politicians or engaging in debate. There are also two field trips: a week in Wellington meeting a variety of policy makers and several days in Waitangi for the Treaty Anniversary.

You Will Get the Chance To

You’ll have the opportunity to engage with the leaders of today, as you hone your own leadership abilities. Gain practical experience in policy research, debate, and communications, while learning from experts in theology, philosophy, political science, law, media and other fields. You’ll also have the chance to build lasting relationships with professionals, policymakers, and fellow interns.

Where Are They Now?

Maxim Interns have gone on to join Ministerial offices at Parliament, researching at Maxim Institute, leading advocacy organisations and law firms, as well as Stats NZ.
