Family Courts Matters Bill

The purpose of this Bill is "to make Family Court proceedings more open and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Family Courts." It does this by making procedural changes to a number of Acts that rely on the Family Court.

Family Proceedings (Paternity Orders and Parental Tests) Amendment Bill

This purpose of this Bill is to amend the Family Proceedings Act, adding provisions to allow a man, who has "reasonable grounds to believe" that he is the father of a child, to request a paternity test be taken.

Crimes (Repeal of Seditious Offences) Amendment Bill

24 October 2007

The purpose of the Crimes (Repeal of Seditious Offences) Amendment Bill is to repeal in full sections 80 - 85 of the Crimes Act 1961, which set out the offences of sedition. These offences make it unlawful to encourage or incite others to commit offences against those in authority, to encourage "violence, lawlessness, or disorder," or to behave in such a way that may "endanger the public safety."

Electoral Finance Bill

The purpose of the Electoral Finance Bill is to reform the current electoral finance law by tightening up the regulations governing the expenditure of political parties and candidates during the "regulated period," requiring greater disclosure of donations received and money spent.
